Our Trainers

We have a trainer for everyone, with varied backgrounds and at various stages of their lives. Find out more about each trainer below.

Emily McMillan

Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor

Emily has a real passion for exercise both in and outside the gym. She started her fitness journey at a young age as she had family members around her in the fitness industry. By high-school she had developed a consistent gym routine that she has prioritized ever since. Growing up with various family challenges she saw exercise as an outlet that allowed her to deal with those things in a positive way. Emily spent her formative years in Seattle Washington, at 23 she decided it was time for a new adventure and moved to Montana to pursue her dream of river-guiding. Over the next five years she moved around guiding in Montana, Oregon and Texas– after making fast friends with a Crested Butte local while living in Oregon she decided to move to Colorado and has been here for the last three years. Working as a personal trainer has been a long standing goal of hers and she is immersing herself into that role here at Core Fitness teaching spin, circuit classes, and taking on clients for personal training. Emily truly believes that in order to do what she loves outside she needs to continue to have a consistent routine at the gym. You can find her paddling down a river, running on a trail, or snowboarding down the mountain… if she’s not at home eating pasta and catching up on the bachelor.

Henry Beyer

Personal Trainer

Being physically active has been a main stay of Henry’s life from a young age, climbing, sailing and bagging peaks.  Henry played multiple team sports, both competitive and intramural, through high school and college.  As he approached 40 (he’s now nearing 55), Henry realized that being physically active was not sufficient to maintain the high level of fitness necessary to pursue his favorite outdoor sports at a level that brought him joy and satisfaction. As a result, Henry dove headfirst into the world of strength and conditioning training reading pretty much everything he could get his hands on relating to fitness and performance, as well as attending trainings and seminars. Henry has been helping active adults stay strong and fit so they can confidently pursue their favorite pastimes for a better, more meaningful life. Henry lives with his wife and son in CB South and spends his free time mountain biking, skiing, camping, and climbing.

Cassia Cadenhead

Cassia has lived in Crested Butte since 2012.  Born and raised in Buena Vista, Colorado.  After a few rainy Alaskan winters it was clear to her that the Rocky Mountains are indeed her home.  Her top sports and activities include skiing (alpine & nordic), trail running, mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, camping, and reading.  Cassia enjoys taking her engineering degree and applying it in fun ways that help others, she adores spreadsheets and organization.  Cassia and her husband are stoked to be raising their family here.  She can be found outside trying to keep up with their kiddo and mini labradoodle.

Kaitlyn Archambault

Group Exercise Instructor

Kaitlyn started taking spin classes while she was in high school during the off seasons of other sports and always loved the intensity of the workout mixed with good music. It wasn’t until her mid-twenties that she started road cycling and a few years after that discovered her passion for mountain biking. As mountain biking season is always too short in Kaitlyn’s mind, when presented with the opportunity to teach spin at CORE during the winter months, she was game! While she sees indoor spinning classes as gym fitness and separate from her love of outdoor cycling, Kaitlyn appreciates the similarities and the ability to keep cycling muscles strong. Spinning also feeds Kaitlyn’s secret desire to be a DJ and she loves choosing music to help keep classes upbeat, entertaining and physically challenging. Kaitlyn is a Spinning Certified Instructor.

Mel Yemma

Schwinn Certified Cycle Instructor

Mel is a new spin instructor at Core and she recently received her Schwinn Indoor Cycling Classic Certification. She has been a Core regular for the past six years and continues to be inspired by the incredible Core community and “train to play” mentality. She started taking spin classes to stay in shape for bike season through the winter and quickly became hooked by how effective spinning was to de-stress and stay fit, all while jamming to motivating music. Mel plans to bring a fun vibe to her classes through unique playlists with some classic throwbacks, while challenging her classes to push their limits.

In her day job, Mel is the Town of Crested Butte’s long-range planner where she works with the CB community to navigate the Town’s future in a way that’s aligned with the community’s goals and values. In her free time, she loves to explore the mountains and desert, preferably on a mountain bike, skis, or with a large backpack on and no cell phone service. Otherwise, you can find her in her kitchen cooking up a new concoction or experimenting with sourdough.

Cam Smith

Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor

Cam moved here as a wide-eyed flatlander. Luckily, adventures with his friends and older sister opened his eyes to all of the adventures possible here in the Gunnison Valley. In that time he found a love for endurance racing in skimo, trail running, and mountain biking. But he still spends most of his time outside of spandex enjoying the finer things in life. Like smelling the wildflowers or his weird habit of blowing kisses to views when he thinks they are pretty.

He believes in diverse fitness and training to diverse demands of life. After all, living in CB is more enjoyable when someone can ask you to go for a run, ride, freeski, tour, etc. and you are always able to say yes. Indoor training at CORE is an essential foundation that allows us to be strong, capable, and confident in ALL of the activities available to us here in Crested Butte.

Ginny Turner

Owner, Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Nutrition Coach, Group Exercise Instructor

Ginny is the owner of CORE with 20+ years experience as a personal trainer. She first came to the Gunnison Valley in 1993, went to Western and got a degree in recreation. In 2011 she and her family happily moved back to Crested Butte. CORE was born in 2014 and Ginny has never looked back. She is an ACSM certified Exercise Physiologist, a Schwinn Certified Cycle instructor and a Precision Nutrition certified L1 Nutrition Coach. When Ginny is not at the studio, you can find her on the trails year round, nordic skiing, touring, alpine skiing, trail running, hiking, backpacking or mountain biking. She is passionate about helping people change their lives through fitness.

Hannah Smith
